We loved our time in Barcelona Spain! It’s an amazing city, like none other. If you’re planning a trip to Europe, we would highly recommend a visit.
From the ancient Roman ruins, to Gothic, middle age facades, to Modernist works of architecture and art. From the beautiful shore of the Mediterranean Sea to the modern post-Olympic structures, to old Gothic and Born Quarters. The city of contrasts is Barcelona.
My favorite thing about the city was the Gaudí and modernist architecture that can be found everywhere. We literally would round a corner and come upon some unexpected modernist treasure, just about everywhere in the area we stayed – Gràcia Barcelona, Spain.
Tim’s favorite thing was the number of amazing and affordable restaurants. It’s a gastronomic gem. We had Spanish, Syrian, Chinese, Japanese, Argentinean cuisines and more. I don’t know who said that Spanish food is bland and uninteresting – OMG, they could not be more wrong! Spanish food rocks.
We both also enjoyed the walking tours we took in the city that were both informative and affordable. We did a tour of Sagrada Familia, a Discover the Old Town through the eyes of an Historian tour, and a Photo shoot in Valeria’s secret corners of Barcelona (awesome – more on this in my next post).
We love Barcelona. As a matter of fact, it has overtaken my favorite big city spot (an honor that was previously held by Chicago).
